Awards and Accolades

This award was presented by Emma and Siobhan Ward, to Father Peter and St. Francis of Assisi Parish for Supporting the 6th Annual Sri-Lanka School Uniform Ministry. The Parish of St. Francis raised a total of $313.10. This money will go to purchasing either a school uniform, back pack, shoes or school supplies to an underprivileged child on their waiting list. Emma and Siobhan presently support 5 schools. Their friend Ben, who works for Christian Horizons Global travels to Sri-Lanka 2 times a year to do mission work. He sets up and supports day programs for mentally and physically disabled adults and children. There are 2 day programs that have a program to make the school uniforms and provide employment to some of the people that are supported there. One day program is in Columbo and the other is in a village called Batticaloa. The girls have presently raised $1004.00 and are continuing to fundraise till the end of April, 2011. Not only the money they raise provides an education, they also provide employment for mentally and physically disabled adults. In February 2012 Emma and I, along with Ben have plans to travel to Sri-Lanka to visit the schools and day programs that are supported by the girls ministry. Thank you for your time. Children's Choir

They were at the church decorating and practicing for the parish's annual Christmas party for our children when someone noticed a horse drawn wagon standing in our parking lot. All of us in the church hall went out to see this glimpse of the past. The driver, Lorne, from "Lorne's Horse Drawn Rides", offered the group a ride. Not waiting to be asked again, the wagon was soon loaded with the already excited kids, and away they went. Thank you Lorne for your kindness. This is yet another example of the interesting things our children's choir do when not singing the praises to our Lord.
